Q. What is NCFCA all about?
A. The National Christian Forensics and Communications Association (NCFCA) believes that formal speech and debate can provide a means for home schooled students to learn and exercise analytical and oratorical skills, addressing life issues from a Biblical worldview in a manner that glorifies God.

 

To provide these opportunities to home schooled students, NCFCA shall facilitate qualifying tournaments throughout the country and the annual National Championship.

 

Q. What types of events are available in NCFCA?

  NCFCA has developed a speech program and debate program for NCFCA Affiliate Families. Full descriptions of the Individual Events can be found on the Speech page, and information on the debate program can be found on the Debate page. For a brief summary of each event, click here

 

Q. What are the debate topics for the 2008-2009 season?

A. NCFCA offers both Team Policy and Lincoln Douglas Values debate. The Team Policy topic is a change of the United States Federal Government's policy toward India. The LD Values topic concerns the idealism and pragmatism. The exact wording is located on the debate page.

 

Q. What speech events are available?
A.
Many different Individual Events (platform, interpretive, and limited preparation) are available. You can find explanations and rules for each event on the speech page.

 

Q. Who can participate in NCFCA tournaments?
A.
Home-schooled students age 12 to 18 on January 1, 2009. Click here for more info regarding eligibility. An Eligibility FAQ is also available for clarification of some eligibility questions.

 

Q. How do I find out about local NCFCA tournaments?
A.
  Please contact your State Representative or Regional Coordinator for tournament information.  Contact information is available on our Regional Contacts page.

 

Q. How can I register with NCFCA?

A. To register with NCFCA, fill out and mail in the Affiliate Application.  Click here to read the registration FAQ for the 2008-2009 season.

 

Q. Do I have to be a member of a speech and debate club in order to participate in NCFCA?

A. No, the only requirement for competing in NCFCA tournaments is that you must be an Affiliate, although many families do find it advantageous to be part of a club to develop their speaking and debating skills.

Q. Who runs NCFCA?
A. NCFCA is a non-profit organization that is governed by a board and has state reps in 33 states.

 

Q. How is NCFCA structured?
A. NCFCA is an all volunteer organization that is governed by a board of directors that sets the standards and policy for its affiliates. 

 

Q. What are the benefits of being an NCFCA affiliate?
A. As an affiliate of NCFCA, you are eligible to compete in National Opens as well as Qualifiers in your region. You will also have the ability to elect a state representative and vote on each year's debate resolutions.
