 Debate Tabulation

In keeping with NCFCA’s Mission and Philosophy, competition results should be considered within the context that competition is not an end unto itself but rather a means to an end in the larger picture of training godly communicators.

Consistency

NCFCA believes that consistency in league tabulation practices is essential to fairness and provides a level playing field for competition; therefore, NCFCA tabulation procedures are standard throughout all league sanctioned tournaments. Competitors can be assured that tabulation rules and practices do not change from round to round, tournament to tournament or from Tab Director to Tab Director.

Accountability

Because the league holds to the highest standards of accountability, tabulation is required to be performed and then double-checked independently during each tournament. To further ensure validity of these results, every tournament’s tabulation files are submitted to and approved by the appropriate Regional Coordinator. Once the Regional Coordinator submits the tabulation files to the National Office, the results are again independently verified.

Privacy

NCFCA chooses not to publicly release tabulation data because of the high value placed on each competitor’s privacy. Public release of tabulation data is not necessary to ensure accountability or promote individual improvement, and may cause some competitors to become unnecessarily discouraged.
