"NCFCA is not all about academics. For my family NCFCA has been therapy. My son has a very mild form of Aspbergers and while he excelled in academics, his social skills and physical coordination were lagging.

In a public school setting he was ostracized for his differences. When we joined NCFCA we found students who accepted him, encouraged him, and drew him out of his isolation to join them in not just speech and debate events, but in games and conversations at club meetings, get togethers, and tournaments.

The coaching he received worked on the same skills that the recommended "Social Skills Workshops" would have worked on, such as maintaining eye contact, reading body language and facial expressions, voice and volume control, and realizing the implied meaning in dialect-not just the literal wording. Affiliation Information

Affiliation Fee Structure

Affiliation with the National Christian Forensics and Communications Association (NCFCA) is per family and based on the current competitive season. The Affiliation fee is $45 per family regardless of the number of competitors in the family. Affiliation before September 15th will result in a $15 discount (net cost is $30 per family). Affiliation after December 31st will result in a $15 late penalty (net cost is $60 per family). Scholarships are available in the case of financial hardship by demonstrating the financial need here.

Eligibility Certification and Participation Requirements

Competition in NCFCA-sanctioned Tournaments is governed by rules, policies, procedures, and FAQ’s published on the NCFCA website. Each family who affiliates agrees to abide by the NCFCA Qualifying Tournament Participation General Rules as clarified by the appropriate published FAQ’s. As part of NCFCA Affiliation each family certifies that their competing children meet the NCFCA eligibility requirements for the current season as documented on the NCFCA website.

Peacemaker Pledge (dispute resolution)

Any claim or dispute arising from or related to participating in NCFCA activities shall be settled by mediation and, if necessary, legally binding arbitration in accordance with the Rules of Procedure for Christian Conciliation of the Institute for Christian Conciliation, a division of Peacemaker® Ministries (complete text of the Rules is available at www.Peacemaker.net). Judgment upon an arbitration decision may be entered in any court otherwise having jurisdiction. The parties understand that these methods shall be the sole remedy for any controversy or claim arising out of this agreement and expressly waive their right to file a lawsuit in any civil court against one another for such disputes, except to enforce an arbitration decision.

Minor Model Release

For valuable consideration, you hereby confer on the National Christian Forensics and Communications Association (NCFCA) the right and permission with respect to the photographs/audio/video recordings that NCFCA has taken of your minor child in which he/she may be included with others:

To copyright the same in NCFCA’s name;
To use, re-use, publish and re-publish the same in whole or in part, separately or in conjunction with other photographs/videos/instructional materials, in any medium now or hereafter known, and for purposes that include: (but not by way of limitation) illustration, promotion, instruction, education, advertising and trade to further the cause of educational speech and debate, and;
To use your name or your child’s name in connection therewith if NCFCA so decides.

You hereby release and discharge NCFCA from all and any claims and demands ensuing from or in connection with the use of the photographs/videos/instructional materials, including any and all claims for libel and invasion of privacy. This authorization and release shall inure to the benefit of the legal representatives, licensees and assigns of photographer NCFCA as well as the person(s) for whom he/she took the photographs/videos.

Re-Affiliation Information

Re-Affiliation formalizes the process by which an NCFCA Affiliate family may move their Affiliation from the Region of residence to another Region. Each NCFCA Affiliate family is placed in one of ten NCFCA Regions (Click here for current Regional boundaries) based on the residence address reported to NCFCA. In some cases (geography, club allegiances, etc), it would be in the Affiliate family’s best interest to move their NCFCA Affiliation to a different Region.

This Re-Affiliation represents a one-time change for the current competitive season only. The Re-Affiliation may only be requested once per year and may not be revoked once submitted. The request should be submitted subsequent to or concurrent with the NCFCA Affiliate Application. Any request to Re-Affiliate must be received prior to December 31, 2011 for the 2011-2012 competition season.

The fee to Re-Affiliate is $10.00 prior to September 15th and $20.00 from September 16th – December 31st.

During the registration process, you will have the option to choose to re-affiliate.
